Canterbury adds a city break, with a longer journey to plan around the 21–26 June 2027 Women’s Amateur Championship.

Begin with your course day

The Women’s Amateur Championship is confirmed at Royal Cinque Ports from 21 to 26 June 2027. That makes the first accommodation question quite specific: where can you sleep comfortably and make the journey to the Deal course on the days you intend to attend? Settle the likely number of golf sessions before comparing rooms, because one transfer and six repeated transfers feel very different.

Write down an outline day from breakfast to bedtime. Include the trip to the spectator entrance, hours of walking, a meal and the return to your accommodation. A room that seems a bargain can become inconvenient if it adds an awkward connection at each end. Conversely, a slightly wider base may be a good choice for a party that plans only one course visit and several days exploring.

Our recommendation is to investigate Deal first, with Walmer and Sandwich alongside it for comparison. Add Canterbury if a city stay is part of the holiday you actually want. Use the property address to test each option. The distance between two place names is less useful than the real route between your front door and the authorised public entrance.

Deal: the starting point for a golf-focused stay

Deal keeps the accommodation search centred on the host town. Look for a location that makes your evenings easy as well as your mornings. If dinner will be on foot, inspect the route and think about returning after dark. If arriving by rail, consider how you will manage luggage from the station rather than imagining only the lighter walk with a day bag.

Ask practical room questions before being drawn into photographs. Can breakfast be arranged at the time you need? Is there somewhere to leave luggage before check-in or after departure? Are you comfortable with the stairs, bathroom arrangement and bed size? A familiar-looking guesthouse description does not answer those questions for every room within it.

A self-catering stay can make a longer visit flexible, especially for people with different morning routines. Count actual beds, check whether linen and cleaning are included and find out how you collect keys. Plan a modest first food shop rather than depending on an immediately available meal after a late arrival. Review the Royal Cinque Ports guide alongside the map so that the accommodation choice stays tied to the correct course.

Walmer: another coastal search area

Walmer gives you an additional area to compare when looking beyond a narrow Deal search. Choose it because the property and its journey work for your party. Do not assume that a coastal address automatically supplies a pleasant or suitable walk all the way to the course. Road crossings, distance and event entrance arrangements still matter.

For a mixed-interest trip, discuss what happens while the golf spectator is away. Someone staying near the accommodation may want an independent day, rather than relying on the same car that takes the group to the course. White Cliffs Country offers local information covering Deal and Walmer, including maps and visitor suggestions. Check the opening hours of any attraction directly before building it into a fixed programme.

A flexible evening can be a strong reason to choose one property over another. Compare access to the sort of meal you want, the option of eating at the accommodation and how quietly the room is likely to suit your routine. Ask the provider about specific needs. None of these advantages can be established just by a broad destination label on a search result.

Sandwich: a separate base for the Kent golf coast

Sandwich is another option if you want to explore more of the area around its links courses. It is particularly important here to keep the venue names straight. Royal St George’s is associated with Sandwich and hosts the 2027 AIG Women’s Open; the Women’s Amateur trip covered here is to Royal Cinque Ports in Deal during June.

Test the transfer from the actual property before booking. Work out whether you will drive, use public transport or arrange a taxi, then check the return at your likely finishing time. A transfer that requires everyone to leave together may not suit a party with different interests or walking stamina. If someone might return early, give them a viable independent route and access to the room.

Our existing Sandwich and Kent coast guide covers that area more broadly. For this championship, weigh a Sandwich room against a Deal alternative on total cost and daily convenience. Avoid booking the wrong month after browsing information about the professional event later in the summer. Put the competition name in your personal itinerary beside the room dates.

Canterbury: choose it for the wider holiday

Canterbury is worth comparing when a city element is a deliberate part of your break. Its appeal should justify the extra travel on a golf day. Before reserving a room, search the full journey to Deal and the final connection to Royal Cinque Ports, then repeat the exercise for the return. Do not stop at a station-to-station result if the accommodation is elsewhere in the city.

Think carefully about the balance of your nights. Two days of sightseeing and one day of spectating create a different accommodation decision from several consecutive early starts at the championship. A split stay is another possibility, although moving luggage adds work of its own. Choose the arrangement that reduces the parts of the holiday you find tiring.

If your group includes someone skipping golf, agree whether the city day and course day will happen independently. Each person should have a key, spending method and clear meeting plan. A useful base allows different interests to coexist comfortably; it need not keep the whole party together every hour. Build the return meal around realistic arrival rather than a timetable that leaves no margin.

Rail, cars and the accommodation comparison

Southeastern’s Deal station information and White Cliffs Country’s travel guidance are appropriate places to begin a rail plan. Search the date you intend to travel when it becomes available and revisit the timetable before departure. Engineering work, service changes and the final journey to the course belong in the plan alongside the ticket price.

For drivers, find out whether parking is included, needs a reservation or lies away from the accommodation. Then ask the event organiser about championship parking separately. Permission to leave a car overnight at a property does not provide a space at Royal Cinque Ports. Save the official directions when the tournament travel information is published and allow for a different entrance from the normal clubhouse approach.

Make a simple comparison that includes accommodation, transport, parking and meals for everyone sharing. Add the value you place on time: a convenient room might save repeated waiting or collection arrangements. For an accessible trip, confirm the room features and the course route directly. A lower nightly price offers little comfort if an essential bathroom feature or step-free entrance is missing.

Booking terms and a comfortable evening

Read the payment and cancellation conditions before confirming any stay. Note the deadline, the time zone used and the amount you lose if plans change. If public admission is still being arranged, a refundable room may be a sensible choice. Do not interpret an accommodation booking as proof that you can enter the championship.

White Cliffs Country’s food-and-drink information can help you choose the shape of an evening in the district. Check each restaurant’s own availability and opening hours if a particular meal matters to you. Otherwise leave space for a straightforward supper after walking the course. A tightly timed reservation can turn a pleasant final stretch of golf into a race to leave.

Before travelling, gather the property address, check-in instructions, admission answer and return journey in one place. Share the essentials with companions and keep a copy accessible if a phone loses power. Use the trip checklist to finish the plan and the first-time tournament guide if this is your introduction to spectating. Book the stay that supports the holiday you want, then leave enough unplanned time to enjoy being on the Kent coast.

Taxis and ride-hailing

Urban Cars Deal advertises local taxi/private-hire bookings for this area. City listings do not guarantee cars at a course. Pre-book both journeys and agree the permitted collection point. Ask about child seats, luggage and wheelchair space when booking. Keep the driver’s number and a fallback plan.
