Getting there
For BMW PGA Championship 2027 at Wentworth, plan the station or airport transfer as part of the outward booking. Save both directions. Check the final event approach.
Road access, park-and-ride and Heathrow
The 2026 tournament used off-site park-and-ride facilities at Sunningdale and Ascot, with accessibility arrangements described in the official travel information. The 2027 locations, charges, opening hours and directions need the new edition's travel plan. Do not drive to the clubhouse expecting an ordinary day at a golf resort. The event can restrict entrances and manage the surrounding roads differently from normal club operation.
Our suggestion: if driving, save the organiser's parking instructions before leaving, follow event signage and keep any parking ticket accessible. Check whether your admission package includes parking or whether it must be bought separately. A hotel car park deals with overnight storage, not course access. Ask a property whether your vehicle may remain after check-out if the last tournament day falls on your departure date.
Heathrow is a nearby airport option to compare for visitors arriving by air. A Heathrow-area room may be useful for a late arrival or early departure, but check the exact terminal and transfer needed: airport hotels cover a broad spread of locations. Do not assume every property has a free terminal shuttle or a convenient tournament connection. For a short golf break, arriving the day before lets you complete the airport journey without rushing straight to the course.
Compare South Western Railway from London Waterloo to Virginia Water and the event’s station shuttle. From Heathrow, compare a pre-booked car with the public-transport options in Heathrow’s journey guidance; the airport is not on a direct train line to Virginia Water. Include every change and the final station-to-course transfer.

2026 event travel and parking instructions
Virginia Water station and the last leg
Virginia Water is the station identified by the organiser for the tournament. South Western Railway is the operator to use when planning your rail journey. Last year's 2026 travel guidance provided a free shuttle between the station and Wentworth and stated that there was no public car parking on the course site. The 2027 shuttle timetable and boarding arrangements have not yet been confirmed in the official material checked for this page.
Our suggestion: use the station connection if your accommodation fits it well, but check the full return chain before booking a fixed train. You need time to walk out of the course, reach the shuttle stop, queue, travel to the station and find the platform. A service's scheduled departure is only the final part of that calculation. The last group can finish later than expected, particularly if weather or a play-off intervenes.
If staying in London, choose your room with the rail journey in mind rather than the word central in a listing. If staying locally, check whether the property is actually walkable from a station along a suitable route. A brief distance on a map may involve roads that are unsuitable with luggage. Confirm any railway assistance with the operator and ask the event separately about accessible shuttle provision.
The course and site layout
Use the BMW PGA Championship 2027 at Wentworth course guide to choose your viewing holes, then the edition-specific spectator map for entrances, public crossings, grandstands, fan facilities and toilets. The final 2027 layout is not yet published.

Dates, the West Course and the festival atmosphere
The DP World Tour confirms Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey, for the 2027 BMW PGA Championship on 23–26 September. The event's official ticket page includes Wednesday 22 September as its celebrity pro-am day. Book Wednesday only if that is the experience you want; the championship itself runs from Thursday to Sunday. The venue is Wentworth's West Course, set within the club's inland estate.
This is a stroke-play tournament, with several groups playing across the course at once. The most useful way to follow it is to combine what you see beside the ropes with the official scores. Early rounds offer a broad choice of players; Sunday brings the closing contest. The 2027 field will depend on the entry list, so avoid buying a trip solely on the assumption that a particular golfer will appear.
The organiser calls the event a Festival of Golf and advertises a programme including music and the pro-am. Our suggestion: decide whether your priority is the golf, a sociable day out or a mixture. That choice affects which ticket makes sense and whether an early last train would cut short the experience. A room that lets you enjoy the evening without a stressful return can be worth comparing alongside a lower accommodation price farther away.
Watching the West Course and choosing your route
Wentworth's own golf information confirms the West Course's central role in the club's championship history. Our suggestion: begin with a modest loop and learn the public paths before heading far from the entrance. Tree-lined course corridors can channel spectators, so give yourself time at crossings and avoid planning a route that depends on overtaking every group. A fixed view of a green can show you a wider range of players than following one pairing all afternoon.
The 2027 ticket page places Treetops by the 14th and several premium options near the finishing hole. Public viewing arrangements need the spectator map; those product locations do not establish general access. Our suggestion: if you want to see the leaders finish, move towards your chosen public position before the final rush, and accept that a broad view may be more useful than a crowded spot directly beside the rope.
Remain still when a nearby player prepares to strike, cross only when released by a marshal and keep calls away from the action. Resist taking a shortcut through restricted areas or between holes. If you hear fore, cover your head promptly. Agree a meeting point with companions and identify an information point early, particularly if anyone in the party may want to leave before the others.
A day at the event
2026 edition, for guidance. Welcome Tent information; Championship Village toilets, merchandise, water refills. Range beside clubhouse; short game behind clubhouse. Cashless contactless; no cash machine. Backpacks searched; small packed lunch/soft drink allowed; no glass/alcohol. Folding chair permitted. £1 searched left-luggage facility in Welcome Tent for 2026 only. Read the spectator rules.
A suggested sequence for your day
- After gates open: clear security and collect the site map.
- Check the draw and find the practice range viewing.
- Follow an early group or settle beside a favourite hole.
- Take food, water and toilet breaks between viewing sessions.
- Choose afternoon holes with your return walk in mind.
- Leave in time for your booked return connection.
Our suggestion for Bmw Pga Championship: start near the practice range if spectator access is open, watch an early group, then settle by a closing hole after a food break. Check the leaderboard before moving. Leave enough time for your booked return.
Getting back to your accommodation
A Virginia Water train departure and a park-and-ride closing time answer different questions. Check the final station shuttle separately, then search South Western Railway for your actual Surrey or London destination. Windsor and Ascot bookings need their own complete connections; a nearby hotel name does not establish a direct route. Wentworth Estate roads may be restricted during the championship. Confirm the signed collection point with a pre-booked driver and allow for queues leaving the West Course.
2026 edition, for guidance
Park-and-ride services ended at 20:00 Wednesday–Friday and 20:30 Saturday–Sunday in the 2026 schedule. The station shuttle and the last South Western Railway departure need separate checks.

Where to stay: Virginia Water and Egham
Our suggestion: start with Virginia Water when convenience for Wentworth is the main aim. Study each property's map position against both the station and the public event route. The station name, the village and a tournament entrance are different reference points. Ask how early breakfast is available and whether there is somewhere to leave luggage if you attend before check-in or after check-out.
Egham is another local base worth comparing. Work out the railway or road connection for your chosen property before booking, especially if you plan to attend several days. A short transfer that needs a pre-booked taxi can still be sensible for a group, but include it in the cost comparison and arrange the return. Do not assume taxis will be waiting at the most convenient point once the crowd leaves.
For either base, compare flexible and advance-purchase rates honestly. If you know you will attend regardless of the field, a fixed arrangement may suit you; if travel or group numbers remain uncertain, cancellation terms can matter more than a small saving. Check how many people the room can accommodate, the actual bed arrangement and any extra charges. A family room and two adjoining rooms create different practical arrangements, particularly for late arrivals.
Where to stay: Windsor and Staines
Our suggestion: Windsor suits a mixed break where the non-golf time matters as much as the tournament. It offers a different evening setting from a purely functional station stay. Check the actual route from your room to the event interchange, since a pleasant town-centre location does not automatically translate into a simple golf transfer. If your party separates for the day, establish how each person will return without relying on the same car.
Staines-upon-Thames is another base to compare for a railway-oriented stay. Look at the station approach, check the day's connections with the operator and consider whether a taxi would be necessary after a late return. A property described by the wider town name may be a substantial walk from the station. Our suggestion: give extra weight to the final ten minutes of the journey, when everyone is tired, rather than only the outbound journey on paper.
Do not compare room rates in isolation. Add breakfast, parking if required and the daily local journey, then compare the total for the same number of nights. If you are visiting with friends, a self-catering property can make breakfasts easier, but verify check-in arrangements and the sleeping layout. Someone expected to sleep on a sofa bed should know that before the group commits.
Where to stay: Ascot, Woking and airport options
Our suggestion: compare Ascot if the eventual official parking or transfer arrangement makes it convenient for your itinerary. Last year's park-and-ride reference does not establish the 2027 plan, so retain flexibility until the new instructions are issued. Check where a property sits within the wider area and whether the local journey needs a car. Being in the same named locality as a parking site does not prove that you can walk to its entrance.
Woking can be considered for a rail-based wider trip, with the actual route to Virginia Water checked in the journey planner. Do not assume that every Surrey town has a direct connection to the tournament station. Count changes and walking as well as the headline rail time. A slightly longer journey with a clearer route can be easier for a group than a sequence of tight connections.
The Heathrow area is most useful to compare if your flight schedule dominates the trip. Our suggestion: choose it for an airport reason, rather than treating every airport room as close to Wentworth. Confirm luggage storage, terminal access and the course journey independently. On your final day, leave sufficient time to collect bags and reach the correct terminal; a late finish at the golf and a fixed flight are an uncomfortable combination.

Evenings and meals around the tournament
Our suggestion: leave one evening flexible for the official entertainment if that is part of what drew you to the BMW PGA. The 2027 ticket page advertises music, but specific performance times and line-ups should come from the event's own programme. Check how entertainment fits your admission product and the last shuttle or train. A nearby room can help, but only if you have settled how you will get back to it.
For a quieter evening, eat near your accommodation in Virginia Water, Egham, Windsor, Staines, Ascot or Woking. Review the restaurant's own opening hours and booking terms. Avoid a non-refundable reservation that depends on the final putt dropping at a precise time. Our suggestion: agree a simple backup with the group so that a delayed finish does not turn into a search for food while everyone is exhausted.
If travelling with children, plan a food stop before the late-afternoon crowd concentrates around the finish. Inside the tournament, locate the public catering and water points on the new course map. Keep dietary requirements in mind and ask the organiser about specific options before relying on a particular meal. Catering prices and menus for the 2027 event were not available in the sources used here.

Accessibility and families
Ask the BMW PGA team about Blue Badge arrangements at the event’s park-and-rides, accessible buses and the route onto the West Course. Check companion tickets and any mobility-equipment booking against the 2027 terms. Ordinary club access does not settle the temporary tournament layout.
Official accessibility / event contact information
Packing, accessibility and a comfortable day
Our suggestion: dress for a long September day with changing temperatures. Waterproof shoes, a light warm layer and rain protection matter more than dressing like a member of a private club for ordinary course admission. Premium packages may have their own dress terms. Carry a charged phone, a compact power bank and a bag you can comfortably carry. Check the 2027 camera, seat, bag and outside-food rules before bringing bulky equipment.
The official 2026 accessibility guide described a dedicated buggy service and a Changing Places unit, while travel information covered accessibility parking at the off-site facilities. Ask the event which arrangements will operate in 2027, how they are booked and how you reach them from your arrival point. Companion tickets, equipment hire and platform access require specific answers before you buy non-refundable travel.
Our suggestion: explain what you need in practical terms rather than relying on a general question about whether the course is accessible. Ask about surfaces, distance, gradients, toilets and shuttle boarding. Contact your accommodation separately for room and bathroom details. If taking the train, arrange Passenger Assist and check the station's facilities. A simpler journey with fewer transfers often makes the difference between a manageable golf day and one that spends too much energy before the first shot.
BMW PGA station shuttle and Park & Ride
For BMW PGA spectators, the 2026 plan used a free accessible Virginia Water station shuttle taking about five minutes. Public parking was off site. Sunningdale: SL5 0HD, red signs. Ascot: SL5 7JX, green signs. Taxis and Uber used Park & Ride drop-offs. Public vehicles could not enter Wentworth Estate. Confirmed: 2026 edition, for guidance.
