Agree the budget and responsibilities before anyone pays a deposit.
Choose the group before the house
Begin with a list of confirmed travellers, their ticket dates and their arrival points. Do not search for a house for eight simply because eight people once expressed interest in the trip. Different match-day tickets can create different transport needs, while a late arrival may require an extra key or a completely separate check-in. Establish who is committed and what each person actually needs.
Set an accommodation ceiling per person, then identify the other shared costs. Cleaning fees, deposits, parking, transport and groceries can change the comparison between a house and several rooms. Keep accommodation and golf admission separate in the budget. A property described as ideal for the Ryder Cup does not include tickets unless the seller states that clearly within a legitimate package.
Our recommendation is to favour fewer complicated dependencies over the largest possible property. A slightly smaller group close to a workable transport connection may be easier to organise than an impressive rural house requiring several daily cars. Friends should know the same cancellation rules and payment deadlines. Resolve disagreements about budget before committing the whole group to the most expensive person's preference.
Sleeping capacity is not bedroom comfort
Read the bed configuration room by room. A listing accommodating six may include a sofa bed in the living room rather than three separate bedrooms. Decide whether somebody is happy to give up that shared space every evening and restore it every morning. Twin beds, double beds and separate bedrooms are different requests, so ask for the precise arrangement in writing.
Count bathrooms and consider how the group will prepare for an early departure. Sharing can work perfectly well when everyone understands the arrangement. It becomes awkward when a photograph or broad capacity label has led to incompatible expectations. Ask whether hot water, laundry facilities and kitchen equipment suit the advertised number of guests, particularly for a longer stay.
Accessibility needs deserve an exact conversation. Ask about steps from parking to the entrance, the floor of the bedroom and bathroom, shower arrangements and door widths where relevant. Do not infer wheelchair suitability from a ground-floor sitting room. If the accommodation provider cannot answer a detail the traveller depends on, choose somewhere whose facilities can be confirmed.

Locate the property around a reliable departure
The main Adare and Limerick stay guide explains the regional choices. For a group property, go further and identify the actual departure point each ticket holder will use. Find out whether it requires a drive, a walk or a pre-booked collection. An address near Adare on the map can still have unsuitable access during an event.
Use the championship transport instructions to book the approved final connection. Ordinary hotel driving directions do not establish event access. Where park-and-ride is your choice, check vehicle eligibility, booking conditions and the collection location. Keep all transport references in one shared document, with a copy available offline on more than one person's phone.
A countryside property can be a good holiday choice if the party genuinely wants it and has a credible driving plan. It becomes less attractive if the non-driving guests cannot get out for food or a rest-day activity. Ask the group whether everyone intends to attend every golf session. Independent plans require independent keys and transport rather than an assumption that the car will always be available.
Cooking, food and the shape of the day
Self-catering is most useful when the kitchen supports the way you will actually travel. Breakfast and a simple evening meal are realistic ambitions for many groups. A complicated dinner after a full match day may be less appealing than it sounds at home. Choose uncomplicated food and arrange shopping around arrival rather than leaving everyone hungry while the car is unpacked.
Check what is supplied, including linen, towels, basic kitchen equipment and cleaning materials. Ask whether a washing machine or drying space is available if that affects packing. Wet outerwear needs somewhere sensible to go, particularly when several people return together. Respect the property's instructions about heating, ventilation and drying clothes; a rental house should not become a makeshift equipment store across every exit.
Food and drink admitted to the championship depend on the current event rules. Owning a kitchen does not mean every picnic container or bottle can enter the grounds. Read the official spectator guidance before packing the course bag, and keep the house shopping plan separate from the admission policy. Our golf packing guide helps with the ordinary practical items.
Arrival, security and being good temporary neighbours
Confirm check-in and checkout arrangements before booking flights around them. A key box may simplify arrival, but its existence and instructions need confirmation from the provider. Obtain a working contact for a late flight or access problem. If guests arrive separately, ask whether each can enter independently rather than passing a single key around several transport connections.
Use the property's permitted occupancy and visitor rules. A house booked for sleeping is not automatically a suitable venue for a large party or a post-match gathering. Keep noise down and leave neighbours' driveways and access routes clear. Event excitement does not change the fact that other people may be working, raising children or simply trying to sleep nearby.
Photograph any pre-existing issue and report it promptly through the booking channel. Follow the departure checklist, return keys correctly and leave time to deal with luggage before onward travel. The last morning often involves both tidying and separating the group, so allocate tasks the evening before. A little organisation prevents the lead booker being left with every responsibility.
Make a short house agreement
Before the deposit is paid, circulate a short agreement covering the room allocation, payment dates, permitted visitors and shared driving. Include how a cancellation will be handled and who contacts the accommodation provider. It need not become a complicated document; the purpose is to make the decisions explicit while everybody can still choose freely. Keep the supplier's actual terms alongside it so the group's private agreement is not confused with the booking contract.
