Ryder Cup travel from Great Britain

Choose your Ryder Cup journey around the transfer to your accommodation and the official event transport.

Find your stay

Shannon, Dublin and Cork are airports to compare; ferry travel can suit a longer Irish holiday or a group taking its own car.

Book around a ticket you can use

Confirmed: Ryder Cup Europe states that general admission for the 2027 Ryder Cup sold out after the ballot. Its official FAQs and ticket pages are the place to investigate remaining authorised packages. Establish exactly which day and type of admission you hold before buying inflexible travel. A week in Ireland and a day inside the gates are separate purchases unless the package expressly includes both.

Our suggestion: Put your ticket dates, proposed arrival, hotel nights and departure in one simple itinerary. If several friends are booking separately, circulate that itinerary before payment. It is surprisingly easy for one person to book the evening before play while another assumes the group will arrive two nights earlier. Resolve those differences while changes are still straightforward.

Shannon as an arrival airport

Shannon belongs on the shortlist for a trip centred on Limerick and Adare. Compare routes from the British airport you can reach comfortably, checking the airport’s own airline and destination listings alongside the airline’s booking calendar. Seasonal frequencies can make the most convenient airport on a map a less convenient option for your particular travel days.

Price the onward transfer before choosing the flight. If you want a hire car, look at collection hours, driver eligibility, luggage capacity and the total rental period. If you want public transport, examine the arrival time against the onward service and your final hotel walk. A late arrival can change both the transport choice and the first night’s cost, so include those consequences in the comparison.

Dublin and the cross-country leg

Dublin may offer a useful flight choice from your home region, particularly if you want time in the capital. It also adds a separate journey towards Limerick or your selected event base. Look up that leg as carefully as the flight: an airport arrival, a city departure and a station connection can be three different stages.

Irish Rail’s official journey planner can help with the rail part, while airport and coach operators describe their own services. Do not combine fragments of different timetables without allowing transfer time. If the trip includes Dublin sightseeing, consider keeping those city nights at the beginning or end, rather than commuting across the country every golf day. That is our suggested itinerary approach, not a claim about comparative fares.

Cork and a wider southern itinerary

Cork is another airport worth comparing, especially if your holiday includes southern Ireland beyond the match. Check the flight pattern for your exact dates and then choose accommodation that makes the onward journey sensible. A pleasant extra stop works best when it has its own night, rather than being squeezed between an airport arrival and a dawn departure for golf.

If you collect a car, avoid assuming that the shortest driving estimate includes tournament queues or the event’s final access arrangements. Build a separate golf-day route from your accommodation to the authorised transport point. For a flight home, allow time to return the vehicle, deal with luggage and reach the terminal. A direct flight is only part of a comfortable door-to-door journey.

Ferries from Great Britain

Confirmed: Irish Ferries operates Holyhead–Dublin and publishes route information and sailing updates. Compare vehicle and foot-passenger options on the specific sailing, including check-in requirements, baggage and onward connections. If you are travelling without a car, map the port transfer at each end rather than treating the sea crossing as a station-to-station journey.

Confirmed: P&O’s own route page says it no longer operates Liverpool–Dublin. Do not plan around an old timetable. A different Irish Sea crossing may still suit your starting point, but confirm its current operator, terminal and passenger arrangements directly. Taking a car can help a group with bags and a longer holiday, while the total includes fuel, crossings, parking and days spent travelling.

From your base to Adare Manor

Ryder Cup transport is an event operation, so use the current official 2027 transport page when selecting your arrival route. Match its boarding point with the address where you are sleeping. A package transfer from a named hotel does not necessarily serve another property nearby; ask before reserving a separate room on the assumption that you can join it.

Write down the return arrangement as clearly as the outbound one. Where do you board, what is the last service and how do you identify your destination? If a mobility need affects boarding, contact the event team with details of the equipment you use. Our Adare and Limerick stay guide helps compare bases around the journey you will repeat.

Give the match some breathing space

Our suggestion: Arrive before your first ticketed day and avoid a homeward flight immediately after the final session. The benefit is time to settle in, understand the transfer and enjoy an evening locally. If an extra night is beyond your budget, choose an earlier departure from the course with a generous margin rather than assuming the final putt will arrive on schedule.

Read cancellation conditions across the whole trip. Separate flight, hotel and admission purchases can have different refund rules, while a package has its own inclusions and contract. Keep accessible copies of booking references, identity documents and travel insurance information. Tell your companions who holds each reservation so one flat phone does not become the only route to everybody’s plans.

Choose the trip that suits your group

A solo visitor may value a simple flight and transfer more than carrying a car across the sea. A family making a week of Ireland may place more value on luggage space and freedom between bases. Agree those priorities before comparing fares; otherwise one person is pricing a fast weekend and another is imagining a leisurely touring holiday.

Continue with the Ryder Cup visitor hub, our format explanation and budget planning guide. The Open hub offers another major-event trip to weigh against Ireland. Once the transport and room work together, the holiday becomes much easier to organise around the golf you actually want to see.

Keep the arrival evening simple

Our suggestion: Give yourself an undemanding first evening after crossing the Irish Sea. Check into the room, locate the next morning’s departure point and have a meal at a time that works for everyone. If you have hired a car, establish where it can remain during the golf day before unpacking. A late-night drive to scout several possible routes is rarely as useful as reading the organiser’s actual instructions. For companions arriving on separate flights, agree whether the group will wait or travel onwards independently. Keep enough of the plan accessible to each person that a delayed arrival does not leave everyone else unsure where to go.
